The built-in photo editor lets you clean up product shots before they go on eBay. You can zoom in to inspect a shot, rotate, crop, adjust brightness, and remove the background, all in one place.
The same editor is available in two places:
In both places a pencil icon appears on the thumbnail when you hover over it or focus it with the keyboard.
The editor opens one photo at a time, on a large canvas that doubles as a photo viewer. To move between photos, use the arrows on either side of the photo, or the left and right arrow keys. To jump straight to any photo, click the position badge (1 of 12) at the bottom of the photo and pick it from the grid.
The arrow keys change photos only when they have nothing closer to do: while the Crop tool is open they nudge the crop box, and while a photo is zoomed in they pan it. Use the arrows on the photo itself to switch in those cases.
If a photo has unsaved changes when you try to switch, the editor asks first: Discard changes and switch, Stay on this photo, or Save and switch.
Magnify the photo to check a detail before you list it: read a model or serial number off a label, or look closely at a scratch to describe the condition accurately.
How it works depends on what you are using:
A click or tap magnifies one step, to 2.5x. Pinching goes further, up to 4x.
Zooming is for looking only. It never changes the photo you save, so you can inspect freely without touching the pixels that go to eBay. To actually reframe a photo, use Crop.
Zoom is available while you are adjusting or removing the background, and in the editor's default view. A few things reclaim the canvas:
Use Rotate left 90° and Rotate right 90° to turn the photo in 90 degree steps. This fixes shots that came in sideways or upside down. On a narrow phone screen the two buttons show their icons only.
Click Crop to reframe the photo:
If a crop drops below 1600px on its longest side, a warning appears because eBay will not offer buyer zoom on smaller images. Zoom out or pick a larger area for the sharpest result.
The first photo in the list is your main image, the one buyers see first in search results. It is worth cropping that one to look clean and centered.
Click Adjust to fine-tune the look with three sliders:
Changes preview live as you drag. Click Reset to return to the original values.
Click Background, then Remove background, to lift the item off its background and place it on a clean backdrop. Then choose the backdrop:
Use Undo to return to the original photo.
Background removal is free and uses no credits. It is available on the Growth plan and above. On the Free or Starter plan, choosing it opens an upgrade prompt instead. See Plans and billing.
Background removal only masks the background. It never repaints or invents any part of the item, so your photos stay true to what you are selling.
When the photo looks right, click Save. Rotation, crop, adjustments, and the background are all applied together in a single step. The high-resolution image goes to eBay, and a smaller copy is used for AI recognition.
Save stays greyed out until you actually change something, so zooming around a photo never leaves you with an edit to save. To close without keeping your changes, click Cancel.
